Running provides a disproportionate amount of lingering joy / May 20, 2023 / notes

I go for runs in the morning because there’s about 45 seconds of absolute bliss in there. Also some minor suffering, but worth it.

And there’s a huge amount of joy the rest of the day. It’s disproportional to the act.

Running a few miles in the morning isn’t that big of a deal, but the little bubble of joy and the sense of accomplishment stays with me for hours.

So hell yeah, making sure I get a run in is Optimizing for delight in a way that spreads over the entire rest of my day.

What else brings disproportional joy?
