đź”— Kristofer, Long Way Home:
Now that fascism is on the rise and our world is becoming increasingly harsh, it is important not to run at full speed driven by your unreflected feelings. Today, we humans have technology that is used to manipulate us…to “find our bruises” and amplify our reactions. Our fear becomes the driving force and the source of what other emotions are activated in us, causing us to act in one way or another.
I have no clear conclusion or powerful one-liner to end with. This is more of a quiet meditation over a plain cup of coffee. A wish that we should not forget that technology is there to be used by us. Not the other way around. That streamlining just because we can is not always good. That the technology we create and use affects us and in some cases even controls how we develop. Sometimes it is good to do as Tom Waits sings: Take the long way home. Don’t run straight ahead just because it is the fastest way.
