One way to work on resetting defaults (emotional reactions, habits, behaviors) is to choose what I want to be bad at. The thing I want to be bad at is the default behavior I want to undo. Framing it as a thing I am consciously choosing to be bad at helps me to undo the associations and impulses that make this behavior habitual.
