“An amazing, wonderful gift. I can walk away and begin again, a step I have already mastered.”
It wasn’t the best book. The reveals weren’t that surprising, the tension builds were rather anticlimactic. I don’t remember the characters’ names or the finer points of the plot. But it was an easy read and had some beautiful lines.
“It is the nature of the earth to shift. It is the nature of fragile things to break. It is the nature of fire to burn. And just as it is the nature of men and women to build, it is also in our nature to begin again after disaster. This I know, too.”
Good pick if you like historical fiction (I don’t, as a general rule), if you appreciate a story that ties things up into such a neat bow at the end, and/or if you’re feeling salty about your ex.
