Bought this book at Half-Price books on the recommendation of a random guy who struck up a conversation and started telling me about his best thrift book finds. We were both in the SciFi section. Anyway this one looked good and sounded interesting — he hadn’t actually read it yet but had heard good things about it.

I enjoyed it. Good world-building, interesting and enjoyable characters for the most part. I got annoyed with Agnieszka when she goes to the castle and is just unable to get her shit together. Like, come on. Seriously.

Loved the description of magic, the use of it, feelings of it, very organic and visceral.
