This book could have been a blog post.
I think I say that about a lot of business / productivity books.
Anyhow, the basic idea is
…making explicit decisions, ahead of time, about where I would spend my time and where I wouldn’t. It meant lists and to-dos—but not too many—and a calendar that truly reflected who I was and what I was trying to accomplish. And it meant gentle, but consistent, reminders to stay on track.
Whatever, I don’t know, it’s got some good stuff in there and provides a few structures and approaches that could be practically helpful but it’s also mostly just commonsense stuff.
One structure I did take away and have benefited from using is the six-box to do list. It provides a helpful way to categorize (and limit) what you try to do each day, and a visual way to see where your time/attention is going.
